Since the beginning of time babies have been raised in different countries and cultures all over the world.
Today's western society is made up of consumers.
We are programmed to buy, and buy lots.
Over the last few decades one of the biggest consumer industry's in the western world is the diaper/baby industry.
Billions are spent every year and here are just a few of the things we are convinced we need to buy the moment we find out a baby is coming, or our family is growing:

Diapers
Wipes
Diaper Bags
Diaper Pails
Wipe Warmers
Diaper pads
Diaper rash creams
Change tables
Wipe containers
Travel wipes
Pull-Ups
There are probably a few more items I could add if I wanted too but you get the point.
This really adds up! Just look at the chart from 2002! Those are the top 10 Disposable Diaper Brands and there are many others.
People/professionals say that babies can't be trained! They are not physically or physiologically able to handle the different developmental requirements to be considered officially "toilet trained".
In "The Dreaded Potty", you can find tips and info on infant toilet training, as well as training toddlers.
The one piece of advice I give in the book and to most parents I talk to or work with who are starting to think about toilet training or are interested in starting their journey is:
The earlier the better!
While many don't believe me here's how I try to get them to think about it.
There are countless countries and cultures in the world even today where diapers are a luxury that cannot be afforded by most.
Necessities like food, shelter and medical care are much higher on the list of things people need.
Diapers and all the accessories that go with them that I listed above are just not something needed.
Babies learn from birth when and where to go the washroom.
Mother's don't strap babies to their bodies and carry them into the fields to work, or for walks that can last hours to get fresh water and just let them pee or poo all over them while they carry them. The babies are nursed and then given the opportunity to "go" in the right place at specific times.
For them this way of life is all they have ever known! It's normal!
And guess what?!?!
Parents don't stress over potty training at all! They don't need too.
Sure there is always room for improvement as they grow until they are old enough to completely take care of things all on their own but for the most part.......
Potty training isn't a huge issue....it's just something done from birth.
Time to start looking at potty training in a whole different way again....no more making it into a big, stressful, scary part of parenting.
Grab your copy of the book and start your journey without all the stress, Pull-ups and headaches you can most definitely do without!
