1. Boys are Harder to Train than Girls

This is one of the most common and oldest potty training myths and it drives me crazy! Potty training experiences and results should be the same whether you are training a boy or a girl. It's not any harder to potty train boys than it is girls and in fact they should be trained in the exact same way as girls.

2. A child will tell you when they are ready:

Um... huge No!! You might as well wait until the cows come home so to speak! This just doesn't work for most kids.

Your child can start to learn this as soon as you are up to the task of teaching them. It's up to the parent's to step up and take the reigns on this one......NOT the child.

Many parents will wait until the "recommended age" to train as per society tells them and end up wasting lots of time they could be using to practice. The earlier the better honestly!

3. Making Your Child Sit on the Potty will Train Him

This is not how the child learns to use the potty consistently. It's up to parents to make the potty part of the child's every day routine. This is something, especially when they are infants that will help with refusal when they are older.

Forcing a child to sit on the potty if you are not providing any kind of consistency or helping the child understand how/when to use the potty is a wasted effort.

4. The Daycare will Potty Train Your Child

This is HUGE misconception. Parents who are overwhelmed just thinking about toilet training often have hope that they can just drop their child off at daycare and the daycare center will train them.

Daycares often will charge extra for toilet training. While they are more than willing to help parents with the process many find parents want them to do all the training and will put kids back in diapers at home sabotaging things and making the process longer and harder on all involved.

5. Pull-ups will Help with Training

HUGE Nope!

Pull-up training pants are basically diapers. They are bigger and kids can sometimes get them up and down without issue but they are basically diapers with a more expensive price tag!

Before disposable diaper were introduced children were usually trained by 18 months at the latest. This goes to show children are capable of being potty trained at a much younger age than people think. We are consumers!

Why not sell us thousands of dollars worth of diapers, wipes, creams and more!?!?!

Now-a-day's we train later and later. We are told we have too. Gives us longer to invest in the diaper industry!

Experienced parents will tell you that most kids just comfortably continue to go to the bathroom in their pull-ups, just like they did in their diapers. And why not? It looks and feels just like a diaper!
